It doesn’t really matter how you landed in a dark place, darkness is darkness and sitting in the darkness for a long time just isn’t good for your wellbeing. But light always overcomes even the darkest of places. God is light and He’s coming to your rescue.

[00:00:00] Hi. Welcome back to daily Bible promises with a twist. As always, I’m reading from NIV version, first. From this little box of Bible verses I received. “Though I sit in darkness the Lord will be my light.” Micah 7:8.
[00:00:18] Today we’re going to do another twist where I’m going to be reading from the Message Bible today. And just to give you a little understanding of who Micah is. He was one of the minor prophets. Not because his words did not carry the same weight as any other prophet. But simply because his book is one of the shorter books in the books of prophecy of the Old Testament.
[00:00:42] So let’s go to Micah 7 and I’m going to be reading again from the Message Bible and I’m going to be reading from verse 7 to about verse 9. So, let’s go for it. “But for me I’m not giving up. I’m sticking around to see what God will do. I’m waiting for God to make things right. I’m counting on God to listen to me. Don’t, enemy crow over me. I’m down but I’m not out. I’m sitting in the dark right now but God is my light!”
[00:01:22] I love the tenacity of Micah. The way that he carries his words there, I can just see him saying, “Yes, things are rough right now. And when you read later on in Micah, things are rough because of decisions that the children of Israel had made. They were in a mess of their own making.
[00:01:44] But that didn’t stop Micah from trusting God that God was going to come through. Even though it looked really dark and Micah could see nothing but the darkness of what was going on in Israel at the time. He still proclaimed. “God is my light.”
[00:02:04] If you are in a dark place it doesn’t really matter how you entered into that dark place. It could have been rebellion, it could have been seen in your heart. It could have been sinful actions. It could have been some stupid mistakes you made that weren’t quite sin, but they weren’t the best choice. Or perhaps you are surrounded by a culture that is increasingly dark.
Light is light. Darkness is darkness. If you are in a dark place, focus on the light because God is light. And as you focus on Him, you are going to find that darkness will dispel, and you’ll be able to see clearly.
