Don’t Worry! He Thought of Everything

Unlike the promises of insurance companies and investment firms who cannot see into the future, God’s assurance that His word is His word and can be counted on holds true. He will never default on His agreement with us.

[00:00:00] Hi there and welcome back to Daily Bible Promises with a Twist. And today we’re only going to be reading from the New International Version because all the other versions say basically the same thing. Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away.”

[00:00:21] That reassuring promise is spoken by Jesus in one of the most disturbing and unsettling chapters in the Gospel of Matthew. Jesus is giving a prophetic word into the end times and He’s warning His disciples of what is yet to come.

[00:00:44] There’s been enough speculation about end-time theology and picking apart of this chapter, so I’m not even going to go there. However, in the midst of all of the disturbing imagery that Jesus uses, it’s almost as if He’s saying to his audience, “I know this is too much to wrap your head around. So take a deep breath. Let me remind you of this, heaven and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away.”

[00:01:20] Nothing takes God by surprise. No matter what we face in our unforeseen future, God has a contingency plan already in place. Unlike the contingency plans of those financial organizations in the 1930s who simply could not look ahead to see what was coming down the road, God’s promises and God’s contingency plans are firm. Nothing’s going to take God by surprise.

[00:01:52] There’s nothing that can happen in our individual futures, in our national futures, or in our global futures that will rattle God. He’s made plans and those plans are firm and sure. He will never default on His contract with us. His word is His word is His word and it will never ever fail.
