Trust Our Generous God

He will take whatever you have to offer and multiply it so there’s more than enough for yourself, and there is more than enough for you to pour out into the lives of others.

Video Transcript

Hi and welcome back to Daily Bible promises with a Twist. And today as always we’re going to be reading first from the New International Version 2nd Corinthians 9 verse 8 “God is able to make all grace abound to you.”

And we’re going to be reading the same verse in the New Living Translation But you might think it’s not the same verse because it doesn’t sound anything like the NIV version. “And God will generously provide all you need then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”

We’ve discussed chapter 9 before in a previous Video so I’m going to put a link right up there, and I’m also going to be putting a link in the description below this video. If you don’t see that link up in that corner, click through to YouTube and you’ll see it there.

Just a brief synopsis of chapter 9, Paul is reminding the church in Corinth that he will be coming soon to collect the offering that the church was going to give to help churches that were suffering. Paul encourages them to seek the Lord and to search their hearts to make sure that they’re giving out of hearts that want to bless others and not out of a heart of fearful obligation.

In verse 8, Paul goes on to reassure those who still might be a little bit tentative about giving in to this offering. He reminds them of God’s generous heart. Further on in Chapter 9, verse 10, Paul drives that point home a little bit more. “For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat, in the same way he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.”

So, if you are feeling God leading you to step out in generosity in ways that confound your mind because you have no idea where the resources are going to come from, remember it was God who provided the seed for you. Don’t look at those small seeds that you’re holding in your hand right now as a sign that it’s not enough. If God provided those seeds that hold the potential to grow a complete wheat crop, He will multiply whatever you have to give, no matter how small it is or how much you think you need to keep that little bit back in case you need it in the future.

Trust our generous God that He will take whatever you have to offer and multiply it so there’s more than enough for yourself, and there is more than enough for you to pour out into the lives of others.
