Eternal life doesn’t begin the moment we breathe our last breath on earth. We’re living it now. Don’t settle for mediocre, start living an abundant, fruitful, satisfying life, right now!

Hi and welcome back to Daily Bible Promises with a Twist. And today we are taking an isolated verse that’s on this Bible card, in the New International Version, and it says, “This is what He promised us. Eternal life.” 1 John 2:25.
So let’s put that verse into context, shall we? We are going to read from the New American Standard Bible, I John 2:24-25. ” As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.”
To totally understand what John meant by, “This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.”, we need to back to John 10:10. It says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and might have it abundantly.”
Jesus tells us how we can experience that abundant, fruitful life in John 15:4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.”
Now, 1 John 2:24-25 makes a lot more sense when we put it into context. “Let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.”
If you never forget those foundational truths that you learned in your early days as a believer and then add on to them those things that Christ is teaching you now, then His words will continue to abide in you. And you will continue to abide in Him and you will experience, not just eternal life, but you will experience an abundant, fruitful, and satisfying eternal life. Because right now, this very moment, you are already living in eternity.
