Work from His Presence

Before you begin a task, enter God's presence. Work from that awareness. You'll find insecurities and the need to prove yourself to God and man dissipate.

Work from an awareness of God’s presence and approval. Don’t work to prove that you are worthy of His presence and approval. Ephesians 4:10 (NKJV) We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

When I write within God’s presence and from an understanding of my identity and position of a daughter of God, I notice others are blessed by what I write. God gifted me with specific talents. I see the world from a unique perspective. This is how he formed me. When I write from that position, the words flow easier. Most writers, if they are honest, admit that it is a rare day that they sit down at their desk and have the words flow as easily as water from a kitchen tap. Most days, they have to prime that pump! However, our job’s more manageable when we begin with a sense of God’s presence with us.

I think this can apply to any task set before us. Before you begin the jobs set before you today, stumble your way into God’s presence. Work within that awareness, and you’ll find insecurities and the need to prove yourself to God and man dissipate.

Father, how patiently you wait for us to come down from our bed chamber so we can be with you. You call us into your presence. We rub our sleepy eyes and shuffle our way toward you while trying to make ourselves presentable by running our fingers through our bedhead hair. As we do, our fingers meet something unexpected, something tangible, something beautiful.

Glancing at the mirror you set before us; we see we wear crowns bearing your crest. No two crowns are alike; each is intricately designed with stones, gems and precious metals that tell our stories. We are marked as yours; you are our Father. How gracious you are! Even before we make our way fully into your presence, you remind us who we are.

Abba Father, we run to you, bursting into your presence as if it were Christmas morning. We can’t wait to rip into our gifts. But it is YOUR face that we see first and your love captures us first, last, and always. The rewards can wait; the tasks will be completed. But for now, it’s enough for us to sit at your feet and rest and learn and just be… with you.
