What’s Up With Katherine?

What's Up With Katherine? News about my channel, and what I have been up to

Today’s blog is more of a personal one, with some news of what I am up to.

I changed the name of my YouTube Channel to “What’s Up With Katherine” to reflect the diversity of that channel. It’s old name “Katherine Walden” along with the logo and branding catered to a smaller audience, mostly Christian. I was also beginning to see a few well-meaning folks pigeon hole me into being some just a little old ‘nice church lady’ who had no concept of what’s going on in the world. Being a Christian is the foundational point of my existence, but I am not always reading my Bible, thinking deep thoughts, and waxing poetically.

So, just what is up on that channel? I have been working through my three books, finishing up with Dare to Call Him Friend. I read the devotional from the book, then add a personal application, or a new thought at the end. It’s been a challenge but a good one.

I am also doing occasional “What’s Up” segments as well. I might discuss disability issues; I might do a cooking segment, I might give people a tour of my neighbourhood. You’ll never know what’s up with me!

The name of the channel has two meanings.

1. What’s up with Katherine or what is Katherine up to or what is on Katherine’s mind.

2. The second meaning goes along with my life verse. Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

It frankly dismays me when Christians abandon Social Media because they see it as such a dark, divisive place. God never calls us to retreat from the darkness; he calls us to advance his light to dispel that darkness. The gates of hell shall not prevail against us isn’t a battle cry for us to hide behind an impenetrable wall. It is a battle cry for us to take the darkness by storm. God IS our protector, our safe place, and our defender. However, he always calls us to advance his kingdom.

I believe my writings, videos, and interactions through messaging and chatting with other believers and even non-believers are sowing seeds of hope. I hope to encourage us all to look UP under challenging circumstances. May I remind others (and myself) to see what’s UP in a world that pundits would try to convince us is spiralling downward fast.

I am slowly, ever so slowly, earning the trust of some folks who have given up on traditional churches and fellowship. My prayer is that I never abuse that trust through manipulative means. I am beginning to make some delightful friendships over on YouTube, bonds that are deepening as I stay humble, teachable, and loving. I do so with no agenda. Heaven forbid I would ever see a friend as a potential target of a spiritual makeover or something. Nothing stinks worse than hidden agendas! May I love well, be myself, be obedient to what I felt led to do, and be REAL.

I am still busy with the Daily Christian Quote Website, I can’t believe it’s been going since 1993 in one form or another, and I am still finding new quotes. I do recycle a few quotes in the mix, to be honest. If you go to the website, you’ll see this version 3.0 only includes quotes from 2002 on.  However, you can receive a new quote by visiting the website OR by joining the Facebook group I created for the DCQ. There is little discussion on that group; the group format allows me to upload quotes in bulk, making it a little easier for me.

Someone recently asked me if I am planning on writing another book. At this time, probably not. Perhaps maybe in the future. The money involved in finding quality editors, book designers, etc. is pretty costly, and I am horrific at promoting my material. I ended up giving away far more books than I sold, and that gets a bit pricy as I have to pay for publishing physical copies! I now can send the books via PDF, which doesn’t cost me a cent. To be honest, I am not sure what I would write about, perhaps my life story? However, I am a pretty private person, so that’d be a stretch!

I invite you to subscribe to my YouTube channel, “What’s Up With Katherine” it doesn’t cost anything. Neither Youtube or I will be spamming you with stuff, I promise.
