Take Advantage of Help When its Offered

When someone proves to be trustworthy, take advantage of any help they might offer. We can't do it by ourselves. There's a reason why God calls Himself our ever-present help.

Hi there and welcome back to Daily Bible Promises with a Twist. And today, as always, I’m going to start by reading one verse and today that verse is Psalm 46 verse one. “God is our refuge and strength an ever-present help in trouble.” So let’s read that verse into context and since it’s the beginning verse of that Psalm, we’re going to read from verse one to verse three. Psalm 46, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, We will not fear though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea. Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.

I have to admit, when I read these verses in context, I felt convicted by the sons of Korah’s amazing faith and bold assertion that they would not fear, even in the middle of an earthquake, a landslide, and tsunami. I personally can’t imagine myself not being consumed by fear and panic if I found myself in the middle of such a situation.

When I confessed that to the Lord, He brought me back to verse one. “God is my refuge and strength a very present help in trouble.” I felt Him say to me, “I am an ever present help to you. I am always there. I am always someone you can reach out to when you’re in the middle of a situation that’s way over your head. However, you don’t always take that ever-present help that I extend to you.”

Busted! The only way that I can learn that God will be trustworthy 100 percent of the time is to allow Him to lead me into situations where I must place my complete trust in Him. Where I can’t rely on my own wisdom, and my own understanding, and my own street smarts, and my own creativity. I have to rely solely on Him.

The more that I lean not on my understanding and my strength and the more that I lean on His strength and His ability to be a help to me – no matter what circumstance I am in – the more my trust will grow in the character of God and the more my faith will rise that no matter what life throws at me in the future, no matter the uncertainties, I can rely on God’s word. He will always be there for me. He will always be a help and He is strong enough to get me through whatever situation I might face.
