Smudges on Your Lens?

Is your worldview smudged by distorted and negative belief systems? Are others having difficulty seeing your light because of soot on your lamp's glass?

Today, a friend used a sound bite from the song “The Best Is Yet to Come” by North Point Worship in a short reel; the lyrics really stood out to me. You can read the lyrics below. They reflect my unwavering belief that we’re meant to go from glory to glory; resisting a persistent perspective that the world is hopelessly deteriorating and spinning out of control tarnishes our ability to bring light to those around us.

Anyone with a fireplace knows what happens if they don’t deal with soot on their glass screen. So, how many of us unintentionally limit God’s ability to use us as lamps?

God compels us to improve the world by facilitating and reflecting his light. But could we hinder our light from shining brightly through hopeless and defeated end-time mindsets?

What sort of soot have you allowed to smudge the lens of your worldview and perhaps obscure the world’s ability to see Christ’s light through you?

I have faith that the world will not hopelessly spiral downward as long as we, as followers of Christ, continue to share his light freely, without the soot on our lens and the smudges of our worldview obscuring the vision of those who need the light.

“The Best is Yet to Come” By North Point Worship.

I believe that the future is brighter
I believe in His promise for me
I believe that He’s working and He’s not done
The best, the best is yet to come
I know He makes the anxious courageous
I know He makes the doubters believe
I know He won’t stop working cause He’s not done
The best, the best is yet to come
I’ve got this hope in my soul
I know You won’t let me go
Lord, I believe
With Your life in me
I’ve just begun
The best is yet to come
I believe that He gives second chances
I believe He works all things for good
I believe that He’s working and He’s not done
The best, the best is yet to come
I’ve got this hope in my soul
I know You won’t let me go
Lord, I believe
With Your life in me
I’ve just begun
Yeah, I’ve got this hope in my soul
I know You won’t let me go
Lord, I believe
With Your life in me
I’ve just begun
The best is yet to come
