Dear Prophetic Friends,
Where do your words come from?
When you speak a prophetic word to the Body of Christ in general, whether in person or online, are you speaking from a place rooted in your identity as someone deeply and unconditionally loved by God? Not a love that’s been earned, but a love that has always been there for you?
If your prophetic voice tends toward being sharply corrective or strictly instructional, but lacks the undercurrent of God’s heart, I encourage you to pause and ask: Does this word reflect the heart of the Father? Even if it’s a strong word, does it still convey love? Or do you tend to sound like a scolding or lecturing parent?
Even when our Heavenly Father brings correction, He always does so from a foundation of love. Prophecy isn’t only about boldness or precision—it’s ultimately about revealing God’s nature. “It is His kindness that leads us to repentance.” (Romans 2:4)
Paul also tells us in 1 Corinthians 13, “If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge… but do not have love, I am nothing.” Love isn’t an accessory to prophecy—it’s the essence of it.
If His love and compassion don’t first mark our words to His people, they may fall short of the fruit we long to see, and after a while, they may fall on deaf ears.
Let’s be voices who not only carry hard truths at times, but who carry His heart in every word we offer.
