When God’s people proved the point that it was impossible for them to fulfill their end of the bargain, God set in place an eternal covenant where He met both sides of the Covenant through the shed blood of His Son. For you see, there was no act of covenant in the Old Testament unless it included the shedding of blood.

Hi there and welcome back to Daily Bible Promises with a Twist. And today, as always, we start off by reading one verse from the New International Version. And today’s verse is Deuteronomy 7 verse 9. “Know that the Lord your God is God. the faithful God, who keeps steadfast love with those who love him.”
And we’re going to be putting that verse into context by reading from the new American Standard Bible verse 7 to verse 9. “The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but because the Lord loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers, the Lord brought you out by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments”
God takes covenant very seriously and a covenant can never be one-sided. In the case of the children of Israel’s forefathers, Moses was referring to Abraham here.
God made a covenant with his friend Abraham and they both agreed to the terms of that covenant. God would be the God of Abraham and Abraham’s descendants, and Abraham and his descendants would be God’s people. God has always kept his side of the bargain. When we read further on in the Bible and we seek the countless times that God’s people have broken the Covenant, God remained faithful. And when God’s people proved the point that it was impossible for them to fulfill their end of the bargain, God set in place an eternal covenant where He met both sides of the Covenant through the shed blood of His Son. For you see, there was no act of covenant in the Old Testament unless it included the shedding of blood.
Know that God is faithful and He will complete His good work in us if we stay committed to the covenant that we have made with Him.
“Know therefore that the Lord your God He is God, the faithful God, who keeps his covenant and loving-kindness to a thousand generation with those who love him and keep his commandments.”
