As this week’s blog is primarily aimed at those who use Social Media, I am posting it directly on Social Media as well as my blog.
I use Social Media, my blog, email list, and the Daily Christian Quote Website as my main ministry platforms. I pop onto Facebook as an overseer or participant in groups. However, once a day, I scroll down my newsfeeds on all platforms. This morning was a brutal day as I tried to find anything positive amongst the miry clay of frankly ugly, foul, and putrid memes.
Let me say this. 80% of my Facebook friends identify themselves as Christians. Selah (Pause and reflect on these things)
Those who posted positive and uplifting shine like rare gems. Keep on determining to be a light, folks! You are making a difference.
I honestly do not give a rip how right you think your position is, or how wrong you think ‘their’ position is, or how stupid you think someone is because they believe what they believe about current situations. Brushing off the opinions of those who might express more caution than you do about certain subjects closes hearts. Bravado is a great way to build a wall between yourself and those who need your help. Empathy builds bridges.
Let me be blunt. You are a terrible witness for our King if you post mocking, hateful, cruel and bullying Memes about political leaders and those who disagree with your stance.
The message you are releasing on Social Media has nothing to do with the Kingdom, no matter what Bible verse you plaster on your Social Media platform a moment later.
Choose you this day who you will serve: your right to be angry, bitter, mocking, self-righteous, and lofty, or Jesus Christ, our Servant King.
Respect those you disagree with, and perhaps you’ll see more people RESPONDING to your position rather than reacting to it.
For further study, I highly recommend that you study the relationship between David and Saul, especially David’s attitude and behaviour toward Saul, who wanted him dead. David poured out his anger, hurt, and frustration to God, in private. Publicly, David refused to humiliate Saul or allow his followers to do so.
