A Delightful Give-and-Take Relationship

A Give and Take Delightful Relationship

One of the greatest privileges we have as Christians is to live in the most delightful give-and-take relationship of all time. We have so much at our disposal as long as we keep our gaze on Him.

Hi there and welcome back to Daily Bible promises with Twist. And today, as always, we’re going to start off by reading one Bible verse from these Bible promise cards. But here is today’s twist. Today will be the last day in this particular series because I’ve simply run out of cards. At number two, I feel that this is a good place to put this on pause.

So, if you have any ideas of where you would like me to go from here as far as doing these short videos every once in a while, I’m not sure I’ll do them every single day. This has been an extreme challenge for me in so many ways, I can’t even begin to describe them.

But saying that I’m not going anywhere, I’ll still be on YouTube. So if you’ve got any ideas of what you would like me to do next that I can edit down to four to five minutes, et me know, leave comments below this video on YouTube, or if you are a Facebook friend of mine message me there. But if you’re not a Facebook friend please don’t message me there because I probably won’t see your message.

So today’s verse is Psalm 37 Verse 4 “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.” And let’s put that verse into context and I’m going to be reading from first 3 to verse 6 Psalm 37 in the English Standard Version. “Trust in the Lord and do good, Dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your ways to the Lord. Trust in Him and He will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as a light and your justice as a noonday.”

These three verses are relational and reciprocal in nature. We do something and God does something. There’s a give and there is a take. Trust in the Lord and do good, dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.”

To befriend faithfulness personified. What an amazing privilege that we have! And we can delight ourselves in the LORD and He will give us the desires of our heart.

When I am delighted with something, my focus is 100 percent on whatever I happen to be delighted in. Whether it’s a bowl of ice cream, let’s say, or whether it’s watching children play, or if it’s a book that I am really enjoying and I just entered into the world and my complete focus is on the story that that book is telling me. It’s the same thing when it comes to God. When we delight ourselves in the Lord, when we can’t wait to learn more about Him, and to understand Him, and to learn about the way that He does things. When we immerse ourselves in the sheer pleasure of being in His presence that is where our hearts delight after Him.

I have noticed married couples who have a healthy, loving, special relationship and they’ve been married for years and years and years, they will finish each other’s sentences all the time. They know what each other is thinking. They know each other’s motivations. It’s almost as if they’re speaking as one.

When we delight ourselves in the Lord and immerse ourselves into all that God is, almost by osmosis, the desires of His heart become the desires of our heart. And the things that are good and wholesome and that will help us, and that will help us to help those around us, will become the desires of our heart. And we will be talking to the Lord and strategizing with Him to see those things come to fruition.

So, commit your way to the Lord and trust in Him and He will act and it will be good and it will be delightful.
